The effect of a weighted blanket can be described as a comforting hug. When used, the body naturally releases the soothing and "feel-good" hormone oxytocin. By increasing the sense of security, a weighted blanket can contribute to enhanced relaxation and facilitate falling asleep. Our unique weighted blankets are crafted using 100% natural materials, including felt from Klippans Yllefabrik, ensuring both comfort and sustainability.

Wesomnias weighted blankets are made from organic lamb's wool and merino wool from Klippans ullfabrik. The organic lamb's wool is free from pesticides, and no chemicals or antibiotics are used in raising the lambs. Additionally, wool has unique properties - its temperature-regulating features provide warmth when it's cold and breathability when it's warm. The wool is easy to care for, self-cleansing, wrinkle-resistant, and 100% recyclable.

Our blankets are hand-filled with Swedish wheat. We strive for natural simplicity with a focus on experience, integrity, and the environment. The wheat grains are thermo-treated and CE-marked by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, ensuring eco-friendliness and health requirements.

The organic lamb's wool and merino wool are naturally stain-resistant (due to the presence of lanolin) and simply airing the blanket in dry weather is usually sufficient to refresh it. Please note that our blankets should always be kept dry since they are made from natural materials. If you happen to get a stain, we recommend spot cleaning with a small amount of wool wash or regular detergent, followed by drying the blanket with a hairdryer.

Which weight should I choose?

We have created two different blankets to cater to your preferences and needs. Our larger 10 kg blanket provides full-body coverage, while the smaller 5 kg blanket is more portable, allowing you to move it around your home easily. When choosing a blanket, consider how you intend to use it and your body size.

It is crucial for your satisfaction that the blanket feels comfortable to handle. While there are no definitive medical studies determining the ideal weight for everyone, it is a personal preference based on your own comfort. The larger blanket serves as a beautiful decorative piece at the foot of your bed, easily pulled up for use during sleep. Our smaller 5 kg blanket is versatile, easily carried between the sofa, workspace, yoga area, and bed. It complements your existing bedding, adding a decorative touch.

Consider how you anticipate using and enjoying our blankets the most. Whether for relaxation, sleep, or yoga, our blankets are designed to enhance your well-being.

FAQs

Weighted blankets are generally safe for children, but it's important to ensure that the weight is appropriate for their body size and age. We do not recommend weighted blankets for children under 5 years old. It is also important to use common sense. The child should be comfortable with the feel of the weighted blanket and be able to easily remove it from their body.

Our 5 kg weighted blanket is popular on the sofa where several family members can enjoy the relaxing effect.

While many people find weighted blankets beneficial, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any specific medical conditions. They can provide guidance on whether a weighted blanket is suitable for you and offer personalized recommendations.

For older people with weaker muscles, it is important not to buy a blanket that is too heavy. The person using the blanket should be able to lift it off with their own strength.

Yes, there is scientific research supporting the use and benefits of weighted blankets. Several studies have explored the effects of weighted blankets on various aspects of well-being, particularly in the areas of sleep, anxiety, and sensory processing.

Research suggests that the deep pressure stimulation provided by weighted blankets can help promote relaxation and improve sleep quality. The gentle pressure activates the body's parasympathetic nervous system, leading to a reduction in heart rate, blood pressure, and stress levels. This can result in a calmer and more restful state conducive to sleep.

Studies have also shown that weighted blankets may have a positive impact on anxiety symptoms. The pressure applied by the blanket has been found to increase levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of well-being and relaxation. This can potentially help reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm.

Weighted blankets have been particularly beneficial for individuals with sensory processing disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder. The deep pressure provided by the blanket can help regulate sensory input, leading to a more organized and focused state.

It's important to note that while scientific evidence supports the use of weighted blankets, individual responses may vary. The optimal weight and usage may differ depending on the person's specific needs and preferences. If you have specific concerns or medical conditions, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized guidance.
